he Global Compact (GC) policy dialogue on "The Role of the Private Sector in Zones of Conflict" provides a forum where representatives from companies, NGOs and trade unions exchange information, approaches, and perspectives on the role of the private sector in violent conflict.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) aims to ensure that the revenues from extractive industries contribute to sustainable development and poverty reduction. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) has spearheaded the initiative since 2002. The World Bank Group is actively involved because of its expertise in extractive industries and prominent role in promoting transparency.
