Foresight Programme’s Project on Global Environmental Migration
The Foresight Programme’s Project on Global Environmental Migration explores the links between climate change and migration. The mandate for this project was given in 2009 by the UK Government. The aim is to understand global migration patterns stemming from environmental change and the challenges related to it in order to give policy advice on how to address them.
Foresight is a UK-based programme working closely together with the UK Government. It undertakes studies looking 10-15 or 20-80 years into the future by using scenario planning and various other scientific tools. Its purpose is to inform and assist decision makers to understand the future impacts of their decisions today.
